Eurotrial 2025 Finland Press Release – Raisio, July 18-20, 2025
The European Off-Road Trial Championships will be decided at the Raisio Motor Circuit from July 18-20, 2025. Teams from several European countries will compete in five different classes, battling seriously for the championship title—but these teams won’t forget to add a sense of humor and friendly competition to the mix. The event is organized by the Raisio Sports Car Club. The success of the competition relies on collaboration across club borders. Volunteers and the organizing club dedicate countless hours of their time and effort for the success of the event. Cooperation is also in place with businesses from various sectors.
Eurotrial events in Finland have a strong international reputation, with previous competitions running smoothly. This will be the fourth time the Eurotrial competition is held in Finland, with notable past events in Polvijärvi (North Karelia) in 2006, and in Raisio (Southwest Finland) in 2019. Raisio’s location is ideal for competition teams, with easy access to the Raisio Motor Circuit area from both the ports of Turku and Naantali. The 2019 competition featured 16 countries and 105 competitor pairs. Finland and Switzerland had full teams, with 16 cars each. Similar participation numbers are expected for Eurotrial 2025.
The competition starts on Friday, July 18, with a free practice session. Friday is also a great opportunity to explore the event area, which is filled with related services and activities. Saturday, July 19, and Sunday, July 20, are the official race days. Day tickets (Sat/Sun) are €15, and a weekend ticket for both days is €25. Children under 12 years old can enter for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Parking is free.
Competition Classes and Off-Road Trial as a Sport:
Original
The vehicles in this class are standard off-road cars with minimal allowed modifications. Armoring is the largest allowed modification. These vehicles are not typically seen in Finnish competitions due to the low number of participants. Maximum tire size is 825×275 mm, with a mud terrain tread pattern and a maximum tread depth of 16 mm.
Standard
Modified standard vehicles, with slightly more flexibility in modifications compared to the Original class. The maximum tire size is 900 mm.
Modified
Vehicles in this class are more heavily modified but still resemble production cars in appearance. The body is free from the waistline upwards, and both the engine and transmission are free. Tires are free, with a maximum rim size of 18 inches.
Promodified
This class allows for more freedom in construction, typically with a tubular chassis. The engine, transmission, and axles are free. However, the vehicle must still have a body, hood, fenders, and body panels, although material is free. Maximum tire diameter is 1000 mm. Steering brakes are allowed.
Prototype
Almost everything is allowed in this class. For example, four-wheel steering and hydraulic body tilting. Frame steering is prohibited. Maximum tire diameter is 1250 mm. This class allows for the full expression of building skills.
What is Off-Road Trial:
Competitions typically consist of 4-6 sections, which are usually run twice. Each section has a maximum time limit of 3-5 minutes. There are 3-5 gates on each section that must be passed in numerical order. Penalty points are given for reversing, hitting route markers or gates, tipping over, hitting or cutting the edge of the section, and failing to complete gates. The gates are marked with the specific color for each class, and they must be driven in the designated direction. Gate colors: Original – blue, Standard – white, Modified – yellow, Promodified – black, and Prototype – red. Each section has a section judge and assistants who record the competitor’s performance on their scorecard. The fewer points, the better the performance. The vehicle’s competition number stickers are also colored according to the class, matching the gate colors. After two days of competition, European champions will be awarded on Sunday evening, by class.
